This year’s TFWA World Exhibition sees World of Patria International present brand
new additions to its wide portfolio of wines and spirits, all selected for
their travel retail suitability (Blue Village G13). Alongside the launch of
Pink Pepper Gin from French company Audemus, WOPI is introducing the Regal
Rogue range of vermouth, a new world alternative led by Australian provenance
that’s designed to bring this classic wine-aperitif into the modern world.
Regal Rogue is designed to marry ‘the art of merriment with
a journey of sensory discovery’, blending native Australian aromatics soured
from Aboriginal farmers, with wines sourced from Australia’s most iconic wine
region. Handcrafted in small batches of 250 cases, each variety is made to a
unique recipe:
Regal Rogue Daring
Dry Vermouth is based on a grassy Sauvignon Blanc wine from South
Australia, blended with native anise myrtle, thyme, quandong and complimented
with juniper, olive leaf, gentian, white pepper and herbs sage, oregano and
thyme. This 18%abv vermouth is largely savoury, with notes of anise, myrtle,
thyme, juniper, olive leaf and white pepper.
Regal Rogue Lively
White Vermouth is based on a generous bodied Hunter Valley Semillon wine
and blended with native lemon myrtle, desert lime and native thyme followed by
grapefruit, chamomile, elderflower, lemongrass, basil and rosemary, sage,
oregano and thyme. The taste is a lively combination of grapefruit, rosemary,
sage, basil, thyme, lemongrass and vanilla. (16.5%abv.)
Regal Rogue Wild Rose
Vermouth is based on an Adelaide Hills Shiraz rosé wine blended with native
illawara plums, rosella hibiscus fruit, strawberry gum and fruit spice together
with rhubarb, fig and redcurrant. The semi-dry Wild Rose is full of tropical
fruit notes, subtle spice and a satisfying dry finish. (16.5%abv.)
Regal Rogue Bold Red is
a Rosso style, led by subtle spice and rich dried fruit like raisins, figs and
cherries. It is a blend of Hunter Valley Semillon and Barossa Valley Shiraz
married with native pepper berry, wattleseed, native thyme and cacao nibs as
well as cinnamon, star anise, clove, ginger and nutmeg. Bold Red is fearlessly
fashioned with native wattleseed and pepperberry, thyme, and a hint of bitter
orange. (16.5%abv.)
Also new to WOPI’s portfolio is Koniks Tail Vodka; the brainchild of vodka enthusiast and industry
veteran Pleurat Shabani. Koniks Tail is distilled using spelt, golden rye and
early winter wheat grown by farmers close to Poland’s Bialowieza Forest. This
triple grain vodka takes its name from the Konic wild ponies which still graze
in the forest. Koniks Tail Vodka is available in 70cl bottles and has an
alcohol content of 40%.
Alongside its new lines, WOPI will be highlighting
its well-known Tofka toffee vodka; a perfectly balanced triple filtered
vodka with liquid caramel toffee flavour. Tofka vodka is designed for fun
occasions, and its medium strength ABV of 29.9% makes it perfect for parties,
pre-drinks, or after-drinks (toffee vodka is one of the most popular après ski
drinks). A shake of the Tofka bottle gives a dramatic ‘storm’ effect which
carries through to the glass, making it perfect for shots or long over ice.
Says WOPI Managing Director Rob Nichols: “We’re
delighted to be exhibiting again this year and to be bringing products that are
new and perfectly suited to the channel. Innovation and newness is a constant
in this business and we believe we’re at the forefront of providing brands that
are both relevant, interesting and with dynamic stories behind them. We know
that it is difficult for small brands to gain traction in an industry dominated
by high investing large liquor groups, but it is possible to make headway.
Tofka, for example, is doing tremendously well in Argentina, Australia and New
Zealand, building momentum in the UK and is just about to be launched in
Israel.”
World of Patria’s extensive portfolio includes well
known beers and ciders such as Leffe, Carlsberg, Holsten Pils, Budweiser,
Peroni, San Miguel, Stella Artois and many more. It’s wine and champagne
selection includes Blossom Hill, Yellow Tail and Oyster Bay.
