Furla
returns to TFWA World Exhibition this year with its new Spring Summer 2018 collection;
inspired by many different styles and cultures – Venice.
The
first part of the collection focuses on intense colours, ranging from vibrant
and dark lagoon-like blue and green tones to more feminine bright pinks that
reflect the Venetian terraces. Floral brocades and jacquards are interpreted in
stunning bright colours that give a fresh new look to materials created by traditional machines.
The
new collection also plays with both solid and hollow designs, inspired by the architecture
of Venetian buildings. Geometric forms mix with softer shapes, such as the new
scallop shield closure lock featured prominently on the new Ducale line that resembles a noble
family emblem. Trendy and contemporary, the Ducale line features saddle bags
and satchels offered in grainy calf leather with a semi shiny finish creating a
soft yet sophisticated feel. The leather shoulder straps are completely
adjustable in order to wear the bag both on the shoulder or as a cross-body.

The
delicate scallop design gives a romantic touch to the Merletto and Scoop lines
both motivated by the famous Museo de Merletto (Burano Lace School). Scoop is an innovative and impactful line
thanks to its luxurious look, enriched by an iconic closure system, contrasting
metallic details and outstanding reversible functionality.
The
second delivery features a more delicate colour palette that is lighter and
transparent like Murano glass. Its delightful print themes celebrate seasonal
summer fruits – pineapple, strawberry, and apple designs are both unexpected
and functional - super feminine and playful, yet with a twist of irony.
A new
addition to the Stacy line is the
Casanova bag – available as a Mini, Small or Medium drawstring or a Medium or
Large Tote. The woven panel of Vit. Venice smooth calf leather creates an
eye-catching colour-block and is available in both squared or striped graphics.
The
popular and iconic Metropolis line
has been renovated with the introduction of new special variations and a new
small cross-body featuring a leather and chain strap which a pocket to hold a
mobile phone. New Metropolis bags feature a variety of prints and fabrics,
including Jacquard, Butterfly and Rainbow, to create a truly unique look for
Furla’s most successful line to date.

The
innovative and fun Candy line also
makes a welcome return with a new style Mini Cross-body. First launched in
Spring/Summer 2011, Candy bags are made of Gomma Gel processed using patented
molds, making each bag a unique piece and expression of Made in Italy design
and innovation.
Furla
is also putting higher emphasis on its men’s collection in travel retail – and the
SS18 men’s collection follows the same theme and trends as the women’s
collection. The best-selling Atlante line
sees the addition of new Arazzo, Ippocampo and Grifone prints created
exclusively by the Furla design team. New styles and sizes join the Marte business line, with a new cross-body
zip-top, small size messenger and a new briefcase with collapsible handles for
increased functionality.

Revised
shapes and functionality have been implemented in the Ulisse leisure line including new nylon bags in solid and printed versions
with animal animations that give the line a fun and quirky feel. A new 4-ways
bag has been added to the Icaro collection,
offering practical and multifunctional usage whilst retaining style.

There
are also many handcrafted designs
typical of the Italian tradition, such as baskets and crochet in beautiful multicolour variants. The final result
of the SS18 Main collection is a mix and match of different materials, prints,
colours and forms that reflect a journey to Venice.
Gerry
Munday, Furla’s Global Travel Retail Director, comments: “The Furla SS18 is
absolutely fabulous, and just screams ‘summer’ – the design team have worked
extremely hard to bring unique and trendy prints to truly make the collection
one of a kind. We are thrilled to be showcasing it at TFWA World Exhibition and
look forward to a rewarding week with clients, colleagues and friends.”
