Aurora sparkles with new products for Cannes

SPARKLE TALES is just one of the new product concepts being launched by soft-toy specialist Aurora at TFWA World Exhibition this year (Green Village K67).

The Sparkle Tales concept has been developed from an existing concept called  ‘Candies’ that has consistently been a top seller for Aurora’s customers. Featuring Unicorns and Dragons in different colours with glittery accents (hooves, horns etc), Sparkle Tales uses the latest plush fabric technology to make each product feel super cuddly and tactile.

Available in 7” and 12” sizes in strong bright and pastel colours, retail price points are from 12 to 20 euro. There is also a promotional/jumbo size available for 80.

“Mythological and fantastic animals continue to be very popular,” says Aurora travel retail manager Garry Stoner. “This new line is perfect for travelling families looking to treat their child/ren, while the appeal also extends to teenagers and adults,” he says. “The price range makes Sparkle Tales the perfect impulse buy, whether for self-treat or gifting.”

Also featuring strongly in Cannes will be Aurora’s Fancy Pals collection that is selling strongly in travel retail locations. Three new designs join the 12-strong collection In Cannes: Peek-A-Boo Puppy, Peek-A-Boo Kitty and Peek-A-Boo Husky, all retailing at €16.95.

“These cute pet in a bag characters are ideal for retail, tying in perfectly with the travel element and enabling young children to feel they have their own bag to keep special items within,” continues Stoner. “We’re already seeing strong sales for the collection in airports, ferries etc and are confident that the new additions will continue this success.”

Merchandising can be critical for sales in travel retail and Aurora is introducing a new floor display for its core character Yoohoo. Bringing together 20 styles of mini Yoohoo, all retailing at 4.95, the unit provides a fun and colourful display that’s perfect for generating impulse purchase and adding incremental sales.

Holding 160 pieces in total, the mini characters include Yoohoo, Pammee, Chevroo, Roodee and Lemmee.

The new mini Yoohoo unit supplements Aurora’s existing space efficient Travel Retail merchandising unit. Measuring just 1.45m high x 0.6m wide, the unit is ideal for locating in high traffic areas to encourage impulse sales. The unit is perfect for displaying Aurora’s new Winter Collection, available for instore sales from November to March. Featuring a range of cute and cuddly winter themed characters retailing from  €8 to €20, such as Pom Pom Penguins and seasonal Sea Sparkle dolls, the unit is ideal for capitaiising on the busy Christmas and New Year travel periods.

“Our new characters, combined with the two merchandising options now available, create a compelling case for building the plush offer within all travel retail locations,” says Stoner. “By citing these in busy footfall areas – not necessarily within the children’s area – Aurora can help retailers to significantly build average spend per head .
“We look forward to showing the new ranges to retailers in Cannes and discussing how we can work together to drive incremental business.”
