Whyte & Mackay Limited is today announced as
whisky partner of the world’s largest international airline, Emirates. The
definitive luxury single malt The Dalmore and multi-award winning island malt
Jura can now be appreciated at 35,000ft
on Emirates, which serves over 135 destinations world-wide.
In a first for the whisky distillery behind some of
the world’s most iconic and innovative releases, The Dalmore King Alexander III
is now available to First Class travellers on board the airline’s flights.
The Dalmore has always set
the highest standards in whisky craftsmanship and The Dalmore King Alexander III is an exemplary
representation of this. The only single malt in the world created using a
unique six-cask finish, this pioneering whisky is the creation of The Dalmore’s
Master Distiller Richard Paterson. His fifty-year career and dedication to personal cask curation and multi-stage
maturation result in a
sumptuous and layered whisky of legendary finesse.
Jura Superstition Single Malt accompanies The Dalmore on-board
the Emirates experience, served in Business Class. From the remote Isle of
Jura, nestled off the West Coast of Scotland, with only one road, one pub, one
distillery and 200 people, Jura creates single malt with a true passion for the
craft of whisky making. A lightly peated whisky with subtle notes of smoke and
spice make Superstition a warming drinking experience, perfect when enjoyed as
customers take in the night sky from above.
Dubai-based Emirates, known for its unmatched
hospitality and world-class service, is considered a leader in the travel
industry and already carries a host of premium products on board its services.
The Dalmore and Jura will be the newest additions to the airline’s recently
revamped spirits offering, sitting alongside only two other Scotch whisky
brands on the First and Business Class menus.
Joost Heymeijer, Senior Vice President, Inflight
Catering, Emirates commented: “At Emirates, we are constantly working to
deliver an unmatched customer experience. We’ve gone to great lengths to curate
a stellar spirits offering with a mix of niche, hand-crafted brands as well as
popular and well-loved spirits. We’re proud to offer both The Dalmore King
Alexander III and Jura Superstition on our flights. Each distillery is known
for their dedication to craftsmanship and access to rare and old casks and
we’re proud to be serving whiskies of such quality to our customers.”
Dalmore Master Distiller Richard Paterson added: “Award-winning
Emirates is known the world over for its exceptional luxury travel experience
and it is an honour to be associated with them. Given its exceptional flavour
profile, it is therefore fitting that the renowned six cask-finished The
Dalmore King Alexander III should be selected to feature on board.
“It’s exciting to see one of my most celebrated
creations now offered at 35,000 ft. This is a proud moment for me.”
Ashish Monga, Area Director Middle East, India and
Africa, added: “We are privileged to partner with Emirates and to have The
Dalmore and Jura on-board First and Business Class respectively. Over a
decade, both brands have seen enormous growth, and we are grateful to Emirates
for providing this wonderful opportunity that will allow existing and new
drinkers to enjoy our brands while in the air and enjoying the service of its
team.”
Antoinette Clifford, Senior Travel Retail Marketing
Manager further added: “This partnership
will serve to reinforce both brands’ reputation and standing which we are very
excited about. We are confident that the First and Business passengers
will enjoy the taste and stories of both brands.”
