Porsche Design presents new models for its 2019 Spring/Summer eyewear collection in Orlando

As a forerunner for innovative spectacle design, Porsche
Design comes to the Summit of the Americas (Booth 719) to showcase its new 2019 Spring/Summer range, manufactured and distributed under license by Rodenstock. For years, Porsche Design has redefined cult spectacles, and this new collection is no different, mixing sporty and stylish statements through purist design.

The new collection includes:
Design classic in Neomint – The ‘Colour of the Year’ P‘8478
A Neomint colour version of the world’s first sunglasses with replaceable lenses - the P’8478.  Limited to only 2000 specimens worldwide, refreshing Neomint is one of the trend colours of 2019 and brings science and technology into harmony with a natural colour. The lens holders as well as nose bridge make the P'8478 ‘Colour of the year’ into a true collector’s item.

Purist design as a fashion statement – the ‘Sidewall’ P’8674
When the first Porsche Design ‘Sidewall’ sunglasses were launched in 2014, the Sidewall established itself as a highlight in the fashion industry. In 2019, Porsche Design is reinventing the design with a modern twist. The purist front of the ‘Sidewall’ prevails with flat lenses, which make the side inserts even more striking. Through the elaborate manufacturing process in combination with the robust materials and functional design, the P'8674 provides optimum protection against wind and sunlight. Available in three different colours, black, gold and grey.

Sporty and stylish – The ‘Air Intake’ P’8668
Inspired by the automobile industry, the ‘Air Intake’ sunglasses give the wearer a cooling effect during sportive activities. While the front nestles up against the shape of the face through an anatomically functional curve, the striking metal badge with the lasered Porsche Design logo gives the spectacles their high-quality look. The adjustable nose pads and temple ends made of slip-resistant elastomer can be adjusted extremely flexibly to the individual head shape and thereby ensure a perfect hold and excellent wearing comfort, even for recreational sports. In addition to striking black with grey-blue mirrored lenses, the P’8668 is also available in transparent grey with olive-coloured mirrored lenses and temple ends in ‘Racing Red’.

Less material, more stability – The ‘Aviator’ RX P´8355
The top-selling aviator spectacles are now also available as correction frames. Pilot spectacles are one of the fashion trends of 2019 and guarantee the wearer that big entrance. The Aviator RX P‘8355 makes a fashion statement, but still prevails through purist shapes. True to the motto of ‘less is more’, the design ensures that they are light as a feather, which is completed through the use of ultra-light titanium. The sides and front were designed according to bionic principles; hence they are stable and simultaneously material-saving and flexible. They resemble the structures in the physical build; material is only used where it is really of use.

Rodenstock’s Head of Travel Retail, Petra Eckhardt-Koestler says: “We have been exhibiting at
the Orlando show for a number of years now, and we still look forward to it year after year.
This is the ideal opportunity for Porsche Design to showcase its new collections to major
travel retail operators in Latin America and North America.
These new collections are a mixture of functional designs, fashionable looks and unbeatable
quality. We look forward to introducing the new designs to our current partners, and to those
that are less familiar with the brand.”
