Creating staff loyalty and commitment is a vital
element in Paul&Shark’s global strategy. A perfect example of this is the
company’s first Discovery Tour, organized at the end of August in collaboration
with its Chinese team, based in Shanghai.
From August 27-31, 60 sales staff from
Paul&Shark’s Chinese direct retail and partner stores – including travel
retail - visited Italy for a packed few days of training workshops, factory
tours, role-play games and team building activities in the company’s headquarters
in Varese and showroom in Milan.
Within the group were the top sales staff from
Paul&Shark’s Travel Retail Chinese Stores, including Haitang Bay (CDFG), Haikou
(Hainan Duty Free), Wuhan (Lagardere) and Shanghai Pudong (KP Orient).
“This was a really exciting and worthwhile exercise
for us,” says Paul&Shark worldwide travel retail director Catherine Bonelli.
“The five days included a mixture of Visual Merchandising and Marketing
training, product knowledge instruction and general team building, which was
really useful for all of us and allowed our visitors to ‘discover’ everything
about the brand.”
An important element of the week was factory tours of
both the production plant and warehouse from where the company ships worldwide.
“We wanted our guests to experience every part of the process from initial
manufacture to final shipping,” continues Bonelli. “It is a story from
beginning to end and we wanted to share this journey. It was great to get
feedback from the participants and we were very impressed at their passion and
interest in Paul&Shark.
“We believe it’s really important to show retail staff
how much we value their support and commitment to our brand,” continues
Bonelli. “China is a hugely important market for Paul&Shark’s business –
both domestic and travel retail – and this was a perfect way to really engage
with staff and show how highly appreciated they are.”
“The week was not just work, however. A tour of the
beautiful and historic cities of Varese and Milan enabled our visitors to
discover the heart and soul of Paul&Shark. Varese, where our company’s
roots lie, and Milan where – as well as exploring this wonderful city, our
guests visited the showroom and participated in various team building
activities.”
