Tyko Travel Retail to handle Asia Pacific business direct …..and uses Singapore to introduce several new collections

Tyko Travel Retail is gearing up for TFWA Asia Pacific this year with the news that, with immediate effect, it is to handle all new business in the region directly from the UK.

Says Tyko Director Global Travel Retail Martin Lovatt: “A key focus from 2014 onwards will be the Asia Pacific/Middle East and USA markets, where we see really very exciting potential. To support the forseen growth in these key regions we believe it is necessary to establish closer working relationships with both current and new clients to help us build a stronger understanding of their needs and expectations. Our experienced Global Travel Retail team here in the UK has over 10 years knowledge and experience of working within the Asia Pacific and it therefore makes sense for us to handle business within the region directly from now on.

This makes the upcoming TFWA Asia Pacific Conference and Exhibition even more important for us this year and we’re very much looking forward to meeting both existing customers and potential new partners in Singapore. We are also using the event to introduce our Breo Free Standing Display Unit to buyers in the region. This was extremely well received at the recent Duty Free Show of the Americas and we believe it has equal potential in the Asia Pacific.’

The Singapore show will also see Tyko Travel Retail introduce a number of new collections (Stand H29), including two completely new looks for core brand Breo.

The Breo Grafik is a classic limited edition range that takes an already popular timepiece down the graphic route. Six unique designs ranging from subtle floral illustrations though to bold geometric patterns, mean this latest instalment has a little bit of something for everyone. The soft touch rubber and wrist hugging strap design makes this extremely comfortable, giving the wearer an awesome watch that has all the right style, fashion and function angles covered. Lightweight and super comfortable to wear, the Grafik comes in six colour combinations. Travel retail price is $40.

The Breo Lustre is an everyday watch for those who require a classier timepiece, featuring a tactile, soft touch rubber strap contrasted with a brushed metallic face with minimal markings. A subtle ‘Breo’ in the three o’clock position sits adjacent to the co-ordinated winder with the buckle completing the eye-catching metallic elements. The white hands make it easy to read at a glance although you may find your gaze lingering on its looks. The Lustre is a versatile watch that can be worn to work and into the evening without it feeling or looking out of place. It comes in six colour combinations and has a brushed metallic dial and buckle. Travel retail price is $40.

Completing the new range for Asia Pacific are Breo's travel retail exclusive Bag Buddy, the perfect accessory for anyone who doesn’t want to wear their watch to the beach; the TWILIGHT with Swarovski Elements®; and the travel retail exclusive Breo Energy watch with its high Ion content, super slim band and compact LCD head.

The perfect way to display Breo is via Tyko’s brilliantly designed Freestanding Display Unit (FSDU), tempting consumers with products from both the watch and sunglasses collections. Taking up a minimum amount of floor space, the unit is visually attractive, easy to navigate and offers self-select purchase. Encouraging high volume sales from a small footprint, the units are quick and easy to restock and perfect for siting anywhere within a retail location to encourage impulse purchases.

The initial reaction to the FSDU at IAADFS was truly outstanding, fresh design, ease of use, compact size and the new offering breo brings to the watch / sunglasses categories were some of the words used by buyers to describe the new breo concept. We now look forward to working with the partners who requested units at the show in preparation for the launch of breo in store during 2014.

Apart from Breo, Tyko is also showcasing its incredibly successful Hippie Chic collection, now in an extended range for 2014, including the new Harmony design. Quirky and feminine with a bohemian vibe, Hippie Chic watches come with a leather strap adorned with wooden beads and charms. With a vintage face and braided cord bracelets complimenting the “stacking” trend, Hippie Chic adds a boho feel and laid back style to any outfit. For this year there are watches and watch/bracelet sets with choices of white and tan faces, cream or tan leather straps and a variety of wooden, ceramic and alloy beads and studs. Retail prices are from $20-$30.

Hippie Chic's performance to date in Asia has been exceptional, sales have beaten all buyers expectations both by unit sales as well as by the value. The brand is new, on trend and a must have gifting item.

Finally, Tyko’s One Tribe is a directional, exciting and unique watch brand which makes and breaks the fashion rules. The watch takes inspiration from the nomadic Aztec movement; applying bold, colourful and tribal designs to multi-thread fabric woven straps. Paired with mother of pearl dial materials and minimal dial markings, make this fusion design is truly one of a kind. Three quartz analogue models are available: Multi Silver, Mono Gold and Minimal Silver, all with an rrp of $40. Packaging has been designed to ensure the watches are fully visible with a prominent One Tribe logo.
We look forward to replicating the European success of One Tribe in Asia Pacific, the initial launch of the brand on board Qantas & within Europe has provided a solid foundation for the future of One Tribe. We look forward to securing new listings for the collection during its official Asian launch in Singapore.
