LANSON SWINGS INTO ACTION WITH WIMBLEDON TENNIS PROMOTION

Lanson Champagne is  leveraging on its long-term sponsorship of world famous tennis championships, Wimbledon to help boost its profile in travel retail with an on-pack neoprene pouch promotion.

The colourful neoprene pouch takes influence from the instantly recognisable neon tennis balls used on court and carries the official Wimbledon championship logo. Sure to draw the eye of passing travellers, yellow pouches are available with bottles of Lanson Black Label (Brut) and pink pouches feature with bottles of  the Rosé Label (Brut Rosé).

The promotion is currently available with Aelia (Yellow only) (London City, Luton, Belfast), World Duty Free (Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester) and Nuance (Zurich, Arlanda, Cardiff, Glasgow, Prestwick.). In addition. A semi-bottle format for Brut has been been provided exclusively to World Duty Free which is proving a great success. The promotion runs until the end of July.

Champagne Lanson Export Director Olivier de La Giraudiere comments, 'The partnership Lanson has with Wimbledon as the only official Champagne served  is one we are extremely proud of. It is the world's most famous tennis competition, and one that is recognisable around the world. In exploring ways to promote Lanson through travel retail, the Wimbledon link seemed an obvious choice – especially during the summer months.

'The WDF semi bottle format is exclusive to travel retail and while the 75cl versions are also available through some UK domestic on and off-trade retailers, we feel this limited edition offer will be particularly attractive to travellers – many of whom will have a specific interest in Wimbledon even if they are not attending! It's a real opportunity for travellers to own a little piece of history.'

The neoprene pouch promotion aims to further increase sales of Champagne Lanson through the key summer travelling period: 'We hope it will appeal both to existing lovers of Champagne Lanson as well as consumers new to the brand,' says La Giraudiere.

Lanson is supporting the promotion with a special advertising campaign running on UK domestic markets and at airports where it is featured.

Notes to editors: Lanson has a historical partnership with the legendary Wimbledon
tournament, stretching back over 35 years. Run over a period of two weeks, Wimbledon – the most famous tennis tournament in the world – attracts  nearly 500,000 visitors every year.
