SWEET SUCCESS FOR FURLA AT CAIRNS AIRPORT

Furla’s Candy bag is proving star of the show at the brand’s corner in Cairn’s Airport. Furla opened the corner within the James Richardson operated Duty Free Store in June of this year and says the fun, colourful and unique rubber Candy bags are a clear top seller.

‘Overall sales are meeting our expectations at the store and we’re delighted that Candy is proving so popular,’ says Furla head of travel retail Gerry Munday. ‘We’re really developing the Candy line for our Spring Summer 2013 collection with exciting new colours and material combinations , so this success is a great boost for us especially given the passenger profile at the airport.’

The first duty free shop operated at an airport in Australia by James Richardson Pty, the Cairns outlet is seeing a profile mix of predominantly Chinese customers (35%), followed by Japanese (30%), Korean (20%) and Caucasian (15%).

‘We’re delighted with the way the corner looks and the support that James Richardson has given us in Cairns,’ continues Munday. ‘Plus the future is looking even better with increased aircraft frequency into the airport, the forecast for growth is excellent.’

The latest Candy collection can be seen at TFWA World Exhibition this month on the Furla stand.
