Porsche Design returns to the TFWA World Exhibition with brand-new
models to show from its innovative Ball Tec series (Riviera Village RE17).
Available in two sunglasses models, each in four colours, the special
feature of the Ball Tec series models is the innovative hinge. The ball - which
is considered to be a basic form as well as the clearest and purest of all
forms - is at the heart of the concept and replaces the conventional spectacles
hinge. The ball on the end of the temples is inserted in the front made of RXP
material and ensures that the side moves in the frame and can achieve the
highest flexibility. Since the hinge works completely without screws, it is
absolutely maintenance free.
In addition, the spectacles seem almost weightless due to the use of very
light materials (RXP plastic and titanium). Without demo lenses, the spectacles
only weigh 8.5 grams making them lighter than a DIN A3 sheet of paper. The
ultraprecision and highly complex manufacturing method of the Ball Tec series
guarantees constant tension on the temples as well as perfect wearing comfort.
Even before the market launch, Porsche Design received one of the most
renowned and best-known awards for product design for the Ball Tec series. For
65 years, the iF Design Award has been a recognised hallmark when it comes to
extraordinary design. The models of the Ball Tec series were able to win over
the 63-member, independent, international jury from among the more than 6,000
submissions.
“The lightweight aspect of the Ball Tec range make it absolutely ideal
for travel retail,” says Petra Eckhardt-Koestler, Director Global Retail &
Optical Key Accounts, Rodenstock. “We are very excited to be showing the range
to potential buyers and are hopeful that they will be as excited about it as we
are!”
