Perfetti Van Melle reports sweet success in Americas and takes new lines to Orlando

Perfetti Van Melle will continue to spread the word that the potential for sugar confectionery in travel retail is still undeveloped at this year’s Duty Free Show of the Americas (booth 1105).

The company will introduce its latest new products to the region where, says Eric Vermetten, PVM Area Manager Global Travel Retail: 'We believe there is still huge potential for sugar confectionery sales through airports and border stores.'

Highlights on the booth will be the new Mentos Jumborolls Tutti Frutti, consisting of 6 single rolls of Bubblegum flavoured candy.

Also on display will be the Mix of Minis Bag; a combination bag of Perfetti's best sweets : Mentos Mini rolls (Strawberry/Orange/Lemon and Cola flavours), Chupa Chups Mini Lollipops (Strawberry/Orange/Cherry and Cola flavours) and Fruittella pixels. Each Mix of Minis bag contains 36 pieces in total.

From the Chupa Chups selection is the Chupa Chups Smurfs Markers, a travel pack containing 8 markers, 7 lollipops and one Smurf colouring book which will be hitting duty free shops in April 2013. Also in the Chupa Chups range is the Chupa Chups Pouch Bag Exotic Tropic, consisting of 25 lollipops in Banana & Strawberry and Coconut & Pineapple flavours. The lollipops are covered with little spots that give the lolly a different outlook, feeling and flavour sensation.

“Last year saw solid growth for PVM and core brands Mentos and Chupa Chups in the Americas,” says Vermetten. “Our efforts in building distribution has paid off in 2012 and will also positively
influence sales in 2013. In 2013 we will continue to focus on increasing visibility in stores due to the high-impulse nature of our products. We also plan to look into the cruise business in greater detail.”

PVM also reports growing success with border stores where the company sees further room for growth, particularly between Uruguay and Brazil. The retailers there are doing a great job and continue to re-invent themselves with new initiatives and plans for the near future,’ says Vermetten.
