Swiss Eyewear Group makes first inroads into travel retail with Virgin Atlantic inflight

Swiss Eyewear Group (International) AG has announced its first confirmed listing for INVU sunglasses with Virgin Atlantic Airlines for all its global routes from April 9th 2015.
The listing, through DFASS, is for model B2515a for women, which will retail at £39 onboard. These beautiful INVU sunglasses have matt smoke and black frames with subtle etched INVU branding and metal detail on the arms. The frames are slightly cat-eye shaped and look great on all face shapes. The smoke grey gradient lenses are ultra-polarised so they block glare and 100% harmful UV. They come with a free case and cleaning cloth, and a 2 years manufacturers warranty.

Swiss Eyewear Group’s exclusive travel retail distributor, Newthing head of sales Martyn Westbury comments: “The sunglasses category is extremely competitive in travel retail, particularly inflight, so we are really delighted that DFASS has shown it believes in INVU by listing the brand with icon carrier Virgin Atlantic.

Adds DFASS  General Manager UK Anthony Fletorides: “At DFASS we are constantly looking for fresh, new brands which offer passengers excellent quality at superb value for money prices. We were immediately impressed by the INVU collection of ultra polarized sunglasses and particularly like the look and style of the model selected. They are a perfect fit for the current Virgin Atlantic inflight offer.”

To support the launch onboard, Martyn Westbury will be taking part in the Virgin Atlantic crew launch day on April 15th. Adds Westbury: “It’s really important that crew understand a new line in the inflight catalogue. Not all sunglasses are the same and product knowledge is paramount to whether an item sells or not. Certainly if DFASS is prepared to invest their trust in INVU as a brand then we are more than prepared to invest time in crew support.”

Notes to editors: The Swiss Eyewear Group founders and management team were previously part of the Polaroid Eyewear management team. After the acquisition of Polaroid Eyewear by Safilo this experienced set of individuals, with in excess of 150 years of experience in the sunglasses sector, decided to start their own business and take on the challenge of creating a completely new eyewear company with innovative ways of operating in a global marketplace.
Led by CEO Jerry Dreifuss, the uniqueness of Swiss Eyewear Group is perhaps best-illustrated by its ownership structure, with shareholders from the entire eyewear industry value chain, starting with manufacturing all the way through to retailing. This extraordinary set-up, combined with the management team’s extensive eyewear industry know-how and experience, ensures that the company has an exceptional wealth of industry-relevant skills and knowledge.
Ultra Polarized Lens Technology
All INVU products feature the ultra polarized lens, offering consumers crystal-clear, glare-free vision with improved colour contrasts, less eye fatigue and a better perception of detail. In addition, the lenses have a highly efficient UV absorber that eliminates all harmful UV-A and UV-B light all the way up to 400 nanometres.  The ultra polarized lens is manufactured in a state-of-the-art optical manufacturing plant using multi-layer lens technology and advanced coatings. INVU ultra polarized lenses combine nine special layers including a polarizer, colour enhancers, UV-absorbers, impact absorption layers and hard coatings.  The end result is an extraordinary and unrivalled visual experience for consumers.
