Morgan & Oates widens travel retail focus beyond inflight

At TFWA Asia Pacific Conference & Exhibition this year (stand B2/J33), Morgan & Oates is looking to attract new business from beyond the inflight sector with airports, cruiseships/ferries and downtown retail all a high priority.

“We’ve always concentrated primarily on inflight sales for our wraps and scarves and, while this channel remains core to our business, are now keen to widen our distribution,” explains company sales director Kevin Galbraith. “We have never really invested in seriously developing our ground and at-sea business until now. The inflight business is very challenging - as we all know - and while we are still as committed to it as ever, we believe the time is right to take a wider view.”  To this end, the company is working with retailers to develop bespoke merchandising and display tools that will enable travellers to easily select from a range of designs and natural fibre mixes from a compact footprint.

Singapore also sees the latest new designs from Morgan & Oates make their first appearance.

THE HERITAGE COLLECTION of irresistible and luxurious 60 x 180cm blended 10% Cashmere/90% Merino wraps has been extended with new florals such as Sunburst - a myriad of colour with soft gentle lilac flowers; versions in strong pinks or muted blues and greys, and the popular butterfly design. Woven in China’s Mongolian region and offered in seasonally changing range of sophisticated, modern and classically on-trend designs, Heritage is one of Morgan & Oates’ best selling collections year in and year out.

THE MANDARIN COLLECTION: 50% Silk 50% Cashmere blended Wraps. These gorgeous wraps are a perfect example of the sheer quality of Morgan & Oates’ products, perfect for the premium fashion areas of retail stores. Combining quality Indian silk and the softest natural cashmere, new designs for 2017 feature modern yet classical abstracts including Leopard in flamboyant pink with touches of tan, grey and white; Savannah in soft grey with splashes of purple and peach; Animal Bronze with distinctive browns and beige on a white background; and Block in a melody of pink, turquoise, grey and white. Hand-finished to create an elegant and luxurious look, the wraps are ultra-soft and lightweight for all-year-round wear.

THE BALMORAL COLLECTION: 100% MADE IN UK Cashmere. This season sees a new selection of mostly unisex scarves manufactured in the UK from 100% pure Cashmere. With colours varying from grey through to blue to black, often with a splash of colour to add interest, the scarves are sympathetically dyed using natural colours. For women there is a new range of light pinks and soft purples, all ultra soft, fine and utterly gorgeous to the touch.

THE WINDSOR COLLECTION: 10% Cashmere/90% Merino – Made in the UK Unisex scarves. One of the company’s most popular collections for men and women, these scarves make a fabulous accessory in summer or winter, equally at home dressed up or down with t-shirts, jeans or smart casual clothes.  Singapore sees a number of new design additions in various colours and patterns including blue and deep grey/green modern tartans, checks, plaids and stripes. Adding a touch of sophistication to any outfit, The Windsor Collection really is a must-stock within any retail fashion offer.

Also on show will be examples from THE ELIXIR COLLECTION: 100% Silk Wraps.

With prices set to reflect the needs of the region and demographic, Galbraith believes that the various Morgan & Oates collections offer huge additional sales revenue for ground and at-sea retailers. “Being exclusive to the channel, we’re offering something different to the High Street at price levels which are perfect for impulse purchase,” he says. “We’ve also got the ability to custom design for retailers so can offer collections which are not only exclusive to the channel but also to the airport or cruise-ship. This could include destination inspired designs, enabling travellers to take back and wear memories of where they have visited. Alternatively, they are perfect for gifting…really it’s a win win situation for all.”

Morgan & Oates emphasizes that one of the main messages is not only to promote the benefits of natural fibres over synthetic ones, but to remind buyers of why the company should be the supplier of choice for wraps and scarves.

We’ve highlighted a number of USP’s for Morgan & Oates,” continues Galbraith. They include that Morgan & Oates is:
