ILLVA Saronno continues to build its Asian presence with strengthened Travel Retail team

Illva Saronno is returning to Singapore this year for the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference (Basement 2 M10) with a strengthened Travel Retail team.

The company has announced the appointments of Byron Tian as Area Director for North Asia and Matteo Scarevelli as Country Manager for Japan. Byron will be based in Shanghai, and is tasked with expanding Illva Saronno’s business interests across the Greater China region, including China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong, as well as South Korea.

Byron joins Illva Saronno with a wealth of experience in the China market and strong credentials within the spirits industry, having held general management and marketing roles held within Marie Brizard and Diageo China.

Matteo will be based in Tokyo, with responsibilities for the expansion and acceleration of Illva Saronno’s business interests in Japan – an identified growth market for its brands. Originally of Italian heritage, Matteo joins Illva Saronno with a wealth of experience in both the alcohol industry with time spent at Bacardi Martini Japan and Treasury Wines Japan, as well as an acute understanding of working and being successful within the Japanese market.

Byron and Matteo report directly to Trent Russell, who, in 2018, was named Regional Director for APAC and Global Travel Retail. Russell is responsible for significantly boosting Illva Saronno’s progress in the region, particularly in Australia, Japan and China.

With the appointments recently of Nikos Tsagarakis as Global Travel Retail Director and Valentina Cozzi as Global Travel Retail Marketing Manager, Illva Saronno is now well placed to continue its growth within the channel.

Says Russell: “We now have a very strong and dedicated taskforce to grow our international travel retail business. That is not just through airports, but other channels too – particularly the growing cruise business and downtown. The focus for Byron and Matteo will be in domestic sales but, thanks to their knowledge, they will also help the TR market.”

Furla brings Pre-Fall 2019 collection to Singapore

Furla will be showing highlights from its Pre-Fall 2019 collection at the upcoming TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition (Basement 2, J22.)

The Furla Men’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection reflects the personality of today’s modern man, and the style of the bags he chooses for work and leisure. The collection shows references to nature – the highest mountain chains, and to modern city skylines with their towering skyscrapers in glass and steel.

A standout style from the men’s collection is the Furla Ulisse line, the iconic back pack which has been re-imagined in new materials and shapes. The new defining element is the Furla Grid – the ultra-resistant, PVC-coated canvas with Furla’s geometric pattern. The backpack, pattened with the Furla Grid design, features seams and details – like the flap and front pocket – in Eracle and Fleu calfskin leather. The straps and other closure elements are in nylon fabric. The edges of the Furla Ulisse backpack are sewn inversely, therefore invisible, making it both practical and sleek for an everyday elegant use. The same construction characterises the other two new Furla Ulisse pieces of the season: the messenger bag and the pouch. The messenger bag’s flap features a convenient zip pocket, as well as pen and item compartments. The pouch is a fashionably accessory and, like every Furla Ulisse item, functional at the same time.

The women’s collection, which speaks to today’s determined, pragmatic women, illustrates combines elegance with functionality, with new construction technologies highlighting the bonds with nature.

In Singapore, buyer’s will be able to see the Furla Fantastica bag, with its sophisticated and rounded shape making it the perfect handbag for casual, everyday wear.

It comes in three sizes in this collection: mini, small and medium. Made of BouclĂ© calfskin leather in caramello colour, it features the new Furla Monogram: an emblematic and succinct monogram that reflects the brand’s initial – a doubled stylised ‘F’. Furla Fantastica is crafted in jacquard fabric with Eracle grainy calfskin leather trim and the Furla monogram as an all-over graphic. With a double handle, adjustable shoulder strap and metal feet, the new Furla bag represents elegance and function. It comes with a two-way zipper and, in the medium and small versions, a convenient external back pocket allows space for small objects like a phone or travel tickets.
