Notes to editors

Tasting Notes for Tullamore D.E.W. 12 Year Old Single Malt

Nose/Taste: A rich, golden whiskey with a complex and rounded maltiness followed by a dark cocoa and citrus sweetness.
Finish: Luxurious with a malty sweetness and lingering dark chocolate notes.

About Tullamore D.E.W.:
  • Tullamore D.E.W. is the second largest Irish whiskey in the world in the fastest growing category. It has been widely acclaimed by whiskey connoisseurs, most recently winning five awards at this year’s prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), including ‘Gold Best in Class’ for its highly acclaimed Tullamore Dew 10 Year Old Reserve. The brand has now achieved an impressive record of 29 gold medal awards in the last 10 years.

  • With an intriguing smooth yet complex character, Tullamore D.E.W. is triple distilled, but is also a unique blend of all three types of Irish whiskeys; the pot still, malt and grain whiskeys. Using only the finest grains and purest water, it is patiently aged in specially seasoned oak casks to develop its complexity – making it the perfect toast when out, or with friends at home. Tullamore D.E.W. is best enjoyed straight up, on the rocks, or served long with soda and a wedge of lime.

  • Tullamore D.E.W. is owned by William Grant & Sons, an independent family-owned distiller headquartered in the United Kingdom and founded by William Grant in 1887. Today, the global premium spirits company is run by the fifth generation of his family and distils some of the world’s leading brands of Scotch whisky, including the world’s most awarded single malt Glenfiddich, The Balvenie range of handcrafted single malts and the world’s third largest blended Scotch Grant’s as well as other iconic spirits brands such as Hendrick’s Gin, and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum. Furla launches Spring Summer 2013 Collection to travel retail

Continuing with its mission to be the leading international premium accessory brand, Furla launches its Spring Summer 2013 Collection at TFWA World Exhibition (Bay Village, B15).

Underlying the collection is a desire to create products with a strong Furla identity; lines which bring to life a real brand experience – building a story around an idea rather than simply offering groups of bags.

The inspiration for the Spring Summer 2013 collection comes from Light and Nature. The way that light shines through objects, through water, through leaves and petals, creating outlines and shadows, muted colours, natural graphic patterns and shapes. The colours of nature are very much the mood, with a high emphasis on the use of green shades, such as olive, lime, pistachio and emerald, along with other naturals, plus white and off-white shades such as vanilla and marble. Animal prints are also still in vogue, with a new leopard print, along with the use of high colour such as papaya, ocean, turquoise and, fluorescents are never far away, this season with a translucent look to reflect light shining through.

As usual, innovative shapes and textures make this a collection to remember!

Spring Summer 13 sees the introduction of new seasonal lines, carry-over lines, a special evening bag project and the incredibly successful Candy Collection. From the collection a number of lines are being highlighted as of particular relevance and interest to travel retail:

Best selling lines such as Paper Moon, Tribe, Piper, and Candy will continue to be at the core of the collection, along with new additions such as Olimpia, Venus, Penelope and Sonia and restyled versions of Gemini and Diamante.

Olimpia is the perfect complement to Paper Moon, embodying the idea of a geometrical shopper combining classic construction with a contemporary shape. Available in three sizes, the shopper comes in croco-printed calf, cuoietto, college leather, saffiano leather or a mix of leather with rubber inserts.
The Furla identity is reinforced with a special lock. Typical travel retail prices are: €198 – €310.

Penelope is pure design: two sizes of satchel with a clean, geometrical structure and innovative look. The construction of the bag is innovative and super functional: the top shoulder handle is fixed on the sides of the body of the bag so that the flap will not raise and open up when unfastened. Ideal for the daring woman, this fashionable line has an adjustable shoulder strap and comes in nappa and cervo leather with luxury Toro trim. Colours are onyx, onyx & translucent white or marble, translucent white & onyx, ocean, marble & onyx and papaya, marble and tan. Typical travel retail prices are: 360-398.

Venus is a new bauletto in two sizes, conceived as a stiff shell protecting a soft soul. This iconic line is modern and unique with contrasting colours on the outer shell and the soft sides. In saffiano and nappa or Nabuck python, cervo and nappa, Venus is expected to be a strong line in travel retail. Colour combinations include onyx and translucent white, ocean and marble, light stone and marble. Typical travel retail prices are: 360 – 420.

Inspired by Amalfi and Divina lines, Sonia offers the iconic Dome shape – highly recognisable as Furla at it's most inspired. Sonia renews the design with colour-blocking details on the top body of the bag, additionally featuring a functional pocket. Offered in two materials: Vit. St. cervo leather and coloured Pitone, Sonia is a truly trendy and glamorous bag, for every day, special occasions or evening use. Colour combinations include tan, marble & onyx; marble, translucent white & onyx; papaya, marble and onyx, ocean blue, marble & onyxl In Pitone, light beige, light-blue, marble and onyx; light beige & tan; light beige, yellow, marble & onyx. Typical travel retail prices are: €380 – €490.

Spring Summer 2013 sees Candy becoming a true collection in its own right. Trends are taken from the main collection and reinterpreted in the fun and colourful Candy way, introducing new materials including croc and python printed leather, jeans and straw fabrics, and double leather trims. Innovative new shades and colours have been introduced, including printed rubber versions in camouflage and zebra.

Available as a bauletto or new bandoliera shape, plus the availability of a new detachable shoulder strap, Candy is offered in a wide range of fluo colours – brights and muted – across the colour spectrum.

With Candy Special Editions and a wider range of accessories including shoes, a true Candy Lifestyle is being built. Typical travel retail prices are: 98 – 320.

Other highlights from Spring Summer 2013 include Diamante, now reworked with new summer colours and materials. In pierced saffiano, this highly functional line includes an external pocket with a removable pouch. This can be changed with different colour pouches to add a personal touch. Available as a shopper in two shapes and bauletto, Diamante offers a geometrical, linear, modern look in various colour combinations with half leather/half rubber handles. Typical travel retail prices are: 220 – 280.

Gemini is the perfect iconic shopping bag, where simplicity goes along with genius. This carry over style from Flash FW12 combines lightness and functionality with a linear shape and fashionable colour blocking. Available in cervo and nappa leather versions, travel retail prices are typically: 250.

Piper Lux is back in three Cartella shapes with new precious material mixes and colour contrasts using Palmellato and Pitone Nabuck, while Piper reconfirms its icon status through new precious materials such as Toro leather and seasonal colours. Typical travel retail prices are: 298 – 520.

The Tribe – Furla & I, bag has been one of Furla’s most successful in travel retail. For Spring Summer 13, the shape is back in new seasonal colours and with different materials such as a jeans version. The stunning Autumn Winter 2012 Zebra version is reinvented for summer as Double Hypnotic, mixing tones of vanilla tones; orange/vanilla; marble/juice. Typical travel retail prices are: 165 – 250.

The collection is supported by a wide range of small leather goods, along with matching shoes, jewellery, hats and textiles.

Says Furla Head of Travel Retail Gerry Munday: “I am really excited about the Spring Summer Collection – it’s innovative, clever, and stylish, whilst at the same time functional, commercial and with elements of great fun.

Travel retail is growing fast for Furla – we have grown the business from 34 doors in 2010 to 106 this year and a projected 140 in 2013 with the majority of growth in Asia Pacific, Middle East and The Americas. Travel retail now represents 8% of Furla’s total business and it’s growing all the time. I am confident that this new collection will help us to further build our distribution and I am very much looking forward to introducing it to buyers in Cannes this year.”
