‘Power Anywhere’ with Travel Blue TECH

Travel Blue, the world leader in travel accessories, has revealed details of products within ints brand new TECH range of ‘Connect and Charge’ products, being launched at TFWA World Exhibition this year (Red Village M24).

The ‘Power Anywhere’ set is designed to meet the demands of today’s traveller. Says Travel Blue head of travel retail Jonathan Smith: ‘ The requirements of travellers have changed enormously over the past few years. It wasn’t that long ago that travellers were carrying with them a mobile phone and a laptop. Now phones have turned into compact media centres in their own right – you can watch films, surf the net, send large documents and much more. This means heavy demand on batteries and popular electronic items such as the iPhone and iPad or other tables are known to run out of power quickly. The ‘Power Anywhere’ set has been designed to prevent travellers being left “high and dry”.’

The set includes a USB Home Charger, Car Charger, Power Charger and connecting cable, all in one handy pack retailing in airports and On-Board for around £49.90.

Also new is the Twist & Slide World Wide Travel Adaptor.

Twist & Slide has taken two years of in-house development to perfect.  There are two key features to the ‘Twist & Slide’, a Worldwide adaptor that allows travellers to use their appliances safely in over 150 countries around the world, and a Worldwide adaptor that incorporates 2 USB slots x 2.1 Amp.

This feature allows travellers to not only connect their plug to the local socket, but also charge two additional appliances simultaneously. For example, the travellers can charge an iPad and a Smart Phone at the same time as the plug is connected.

Both sets are from the new TECH by Travel Blue range which has been designed to meet every possible solution to Connect and Charge travellers’ USB devices worldwide.

Throughout the TECH range the highest quality and safety standards are met.

Notes to editors: Travel Blue is the World’s No.1 travel accessories brand in Travel Retail. Established in 1987, Travel Blue's range is synonymous with 'Travelling in Comfort and Safety'. Targeting travellers all over the world, the range is currently available in over 100 countries in 5 continents.

Travel Blue is sold as a concept rather than just a collection of products. Everything from the colour of the products, the presentation and the impulse-purchasing factor makes the company's products successful in travel retail.

Almost, every item sold by Travel Blue is covered by its “Free-lost-found” service, with each product carrying a unique ID code, which can be registered online. If a customer loses a product and someone finds it, they can log that number on our database. Travel Blue then contacts the person who lost their property and puts them in touch with the person who found it.

Travel Blue is a socially responsible company.

DISARONNO DRESSES UP WITH MOSCHINO WITH INITIAL LAUNCH TO TRAVEL RETAIL

London - Disaronno, the world famous Italian liqueur, has linked with international designer Moschino for a limited edition. The bottle, which is being introduced to capitalise on the Christmas gift-giving and self-indulgent season, will initially be launched through travel retail in October 2013, with speciality concept stores and then general retail following in November.

Stefano Battioni, General Manager of Illva Saronno comments: ‘We were interested in the idea of linking the iconic image of our bottle and brand to that of another, which is also recognizable all over the world, with a specially designed Christmas look. Even though DISARONNO is already known for Italian quality and style worldwide, we're always trying to reinvent ourselves and stay fresh, which is why we decided to get involved in the world of fashion, in particular Moschino, another dynamic brand with an extensive Italian heritage.’

Overprinted with a design repeating the famous Moschino red heart on a black background, the bottle will appear in key airports from October. ‘Travel retail was chosen as the initial launch distribution channel for the special edition as it is such a great platform to showcase the product,’ continues Stefano Battioni. Retailers listing the Disaronno special edition bottle include: Heinemann, World Duty Free, Aldeasa, Hellenic Duty Free Shops in Greece, Dubai Duty Free, Dufry Italy and LS Travel Retail for the Rome Airports.

Rossella Jardini, Moschino's Creative Director, adds ‘Moschino represents energy, passion, joy and positivity. The red heart has always been one of our symbols. For Christmas we will cover the DISARONNO bottle with hearts wishing lots of love to our friends and theirs.’

The initiative will also benefit the charity Fashion for Development (sponsored by the United Nations) through a donation of its profits to help the development of this unique initiative in Africa.

To celebrate this festive collaboration, the iconic Italian liqueur has created DISARONNO Loves Sour a twist on a timeless cocktail.:
40ml DISARONNO
15ml lemon juice
7 muddled cranberries
shaken and strained in a flute with no ice
Topped with champagne

FLO ACCESSORIES LAUNCHES FRAGRANCE JEWELLERY LINE

FLO Accessories, the innovative beauty-on-the-go product company, is launching an exciting fragrance jewellery collection to the travel retail market at TFWA World Exhibition. The range can be seen for the first time on the Sea & Sky Inflight Supply stand (Blue Village G31).

By uniting the worlds of fashion and fragrance, the FLO Fragrance Jewellery collection will provide a major commercial opportunity for travel retailers. The product concept is simple, but the mechanism is not. The patented AbsorbPearls, which can be sprayed with any fragrance, are inserted into an item of jewellery from the FLO collection. The AbsorbPearls then slowly diffuse the fragrance for long-lasting scent. The strength of the scent emitted is easily selected by controlling the amount of spray applied to the Pearls.
Says FLO founder and CEO Adoram Leshem: “I had this idea of finding a way for women and men to wear their favourite fragrance for longer than simply a day or evening. It took four years of development to create the AbsorbPearls, which, unlike any other product on the market, can retain the scent they are sprayed with for at least two weeks. The next step was to design a unique jewellery collection that is both attractive to travel retail consumers and suitable to wear on any occasion.”
The result of these four years is a groundbreaking product, which includes the AbsorbPearls as well as a specially designed range of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and charms for women, as well as pendants and cufflinks for men. Keyrings and bag charms complete the collection. Each piece has a carefully thought out receptacle, perforation and opening mechanism for inserting and diffusing the AbsorbPearls. There is enough room in each piece of jewellery for a variable quantity of AbsorbPearls – another simple way to control the scent level.
With each piece of jewellery, FLO offers an AbsorbPearl refill pack. There are many different options for packaging, including gift sets with FLO Universal Atomizers and a FLO Fragrance Jewellery. The charms can also be packaged with several different accessories for a charm, so it can be used as a necklace, bracelet, or keychain. Display options will include an interactive shelf where busy travellers can try the concept before they buy.
With suggested travel retail price points in the $20-$35 range, Leshem says that he has begun to introduce the idea to buyers and consumers, and the initial reaction to the FLO Fragrance Jewellery line has been ‘phenomenally encouraging’.
'There really is nothing else like this on the market and we are confident that the range will be a real game changer for the travel retail industry,' he adds.

The FLO Fragrance Jewellery collection will be making its world debut at the Sea & Sky Inflight Supply stand, alongside FLO’s patented Universal Fragrance Atomizers. Also presented will be FLO’s full range of travel accessories designed especially for beauty on the go, including the FLO Beauty Organizer, the FLO Crystal Travel Nail File Set and FLO’s Celebrity LED Mirror, already fabulously successful in the travel retail industry.
The FLO Universal Fragrance Atomizer is the only type of atomizer on the market with a glass receptacle for fragrance, which ensures that the fragrance inside is not affected by temperature or other chemical reactions. All competitors use plastic, which can damage the fragrance and cause skin irritation.
Easy to wash and clean, the FLO Fragrance Atomizer is the ONLY atomizer on the market which is 100% universal. Its patented silicone funnel fills from ALL fragrance bottles, regardless of design or spray nozzle. Simply spray or pour fragrance into the atomizer, with no chance of damaging the fragrance bottle straw.
Make sure your first stop at the 2013 TFWA World Exhibition is the Sea & Sky Inboard Supply to see FLO Accessories’ line of innovative problem solvers for travel and on the go, and find out more about how you can boost your sales with these stylish and price-friendly products.

Be Keen brings reborn Rallet to travel retail

One of Russia’s oldest and legendary perfume houses – Rallet – is being re-launched through licensees Empire of Scents with travel retail distribution handled by niche brand specialist Be Keen. The new Rallet fragrance offer can be seen at TFWA World Exhibition (Yellow B15) on the Empire of Scents stand.

Founded 1843 in Moscow by Alphonse Rallet, by 1900 Rallet had become Russia's leading manufacturer of fine perfume, soaps, and cosmetics using alcohol concentrates from France. The company was named ‘Perfumer of the Court of his Imperial Majesty’ by Tsar Nicolas 1 in 1846 and was awarded the national emblem of the Russian Empire four times. When Rallet's Russian assets were nationalized in 1917, the company was re-established in France and became Haute Parfumerie Rallet Paris 1843. In 1926 Rallet was sold to François Coty – but not before technical director Ernest Beaux created a series of perfumes for Gabrielle Chanel, one being No. 5, in 1920!

For the modern consumer, Rallet is offering four new exclusive niche fragrances:
Aqua Mystique – a fusion of precious elements opening with citrus notes of lemon, mandarin and bergamot;
Flou Artistique described as a disconcerting and hazy fragrance provoking mysterious feelings and emotions with top notes of white peach, fondant almond and jasmine;
Spectre Noir – bursting with spicy and citrus notes of lemon zest, bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit;
47 Vyatskaya St  - a tribute to the address where Alphonse Rallet established his first perfume company and designed to reflect the evolution of the company. It starts with fruity notes of blackcurrant and bergamot, rising into a floral accord of  lily, jasmine and rose.

All four are presented in similar styled glass bottles containing 100ml fragrances (edp)

We’re delighted to be representing this new collection for travel retail and have already secured a listing for the brand with Nuance within its new St Petersburg Pulkovo niche fragrance area,’ says Be Keen president Antoine Khouzami. ‘It is a superb brand with a colourful and intriguing history; one which is reflected in the new collection which, at the same time, is in-tune with today’s consumer profile.

We will be offering the range to airport retailers which we feel are able to present it in the correct environment and are confident it has real potential within the channel.’

Notes to editors: Be Keen aims to be 'the' strategic partner for niche luxury brands, helping companies to launch and build business in travel retail through long-term, qualitative partnerships. Antoine Khouzami and Abla Bencheikh believe that Be Keen fills a gap in the luxury sector for an agency that truly understands both the needs of the retailer and the brand. 'Our role is to help brands overcome difficulties, seize opportunities and optimise their resources. Together we can build the keystones of a brand's future success by setting out a vision and implementing a strategy which will enable them to achieve their goals,’ says Khouzami.

PVM INTRODUCES NEW LINES IN CANNES TO FILL MARKET GAPS

Perfetti Van Melle divides its travel retail range into two broad areas: snacking and gifting, with the former dividing into self consumption and sharing and the latter informal and formal. Within its product matrix, where lines are further divided into adult and children, the company has identified a number of opportunities for product development – particularly for sales of snacking items at the point of sale – or checkout.

At TFWA World Exhibition this year (Mediterranean Village, P17) the company will be introducing several new lines which it believes are perfect for till point sales. These include:

Mentos Gum Bottles – in white sweet mint and white green mint, each handy container includes 65 pieces.

Mentos Pouch Bag – a brightly coloured premium resealable pouch bag containing 175g Mentos Dragees in three flavours: mint, fruit and strawberry mix. Ideal for snacking and sharing.

Smint Spearmint – a new look dispenser of 120 pieces, this is the perfect till point sales item.

To support the products, PVM is also offering retailers a checkout merchandising unit which can be filled with a wide range of products alongside PVM sugar confectionery. 'We realise the value of checkout merchandising units for confectionery sales in particular, but of course PVM does not offer every need in this sector, so we are offering a unit that can include a variety of products including chocolate, jellies, savoury snacks etc,' says Global Travel Retail Manager PVM Susan de Vree. Both floor standing and counter top units are offered.

In the on-shelf offer, PVM has also identified new gifting opportunities for adults and children. These include:

Mentos Jumboroll Dutch Design – a new look for a classic favourite to revitalise sales. This is the first limited edition pack designs for Mentos mint dragees. The first is a typical Dutch design from PVM's home country but future offers could include tailor-made designs for specific retailers or regions.

Chupa Chups Mega Chups Limited Edition – a similar concept for this Chupa Chups favourite. The Megachups covering foil is replaced with a new look funky design reminiscent of a disco-ball. Containing 15 assorted flavour lollipops.

Mini Mix Bag – a lovely gift idea for teenagers in girl and boy designs. Each see through reusable bag contains a mix of Chupa Chups, Mentos and Fruittella. Ideal for use as a pencil case or toiletries bag, versions come in Glamorous Mix for girls and Cool Mix for boys.

Chupa Chups Smurf House - perfect for kids who love the new Smurf 2 film. Each house shaped pack contains 6 strawberry lollipops, four Smurfines and a game. This product follows on from the huge sell out success of the Smurfs Markers.

On shelf display is fine, but PVM believes enticing consumers into the retail area through bright, colourful and fun merchandising units is essential. New for airports, and on show on the stand in Cannes, is a super bright Chupa Chups and Mentos branded truck in which children can sit next to a fun character to have their photo taken. The unit carries a wide variety of Chupa Chups and Mentos products and takes up little floor space ( H 1300mm x  W 950mm x L 1960mm).

Says de Vree: 'We all know that attracting passengers into the retail shop is the first hurdle. We also know that bright, colourful merchandising units such as this work....especially in enticing families into the retail area. Our new truck has the added value that children can actually sit inside which makes a great photo opportunity. We will have the unit on the stand in Cannes and, though it may be a little small for buyers to sit inside, we are happy to take their photo!!'

Stroili Italian Jewels widens distribution target following inflight sales success

‘Stroili dresses every woman’s soul - jewellery that captures the personality of every woman.’

Within months of entering the travel retail sector, Stroili Italian Jewels has become one of the hottest names in airline retail with its jewellery sets becoming top sellers where listed. On Emirates a bangle and ring set is selling exceptionally well at US$270, while a cuff and ring set on KLM is consistently a best seller. Qantas and Etihad is also listing Stroili with excellent results while Eva Air is listing a Chic Embrace necklace at 189€. The company says many of the ‘top 50’ airlines are very interested in placing orders once new collections are shown later this month.

The company is now looking to expand distribution. ‘We decided to approach the travel retail market in a step by step, strategic way and grow organically. We did not want to run before we could walk,’ says Stroili CEO Maurizio Merenda. ‘We believe it has worked because we have come into the channel with a jewellery range that is really “new” and different – absolutely not “same old, same old”. We realise that the airline channel has to be managed carefully and have ensured that we have honoured all our commitments – able to deliver on time and in the required quantities.

‘With this ongoing success, we feel the time is now right to expand our distribution into airport retail stores and cruise-ships. We are already present with Bahrain Duty Free and Kuwait Duty Free through Jashanmal and have our own store at Milan Malpensa which we handle directly. However, we believe there is huge potential waiting for us.’

As a company, Stroili has shown massive growth over the past decade with extraordinary sales increasing with a turnover result of €200m in the last year. Today Stroili is Italy’s leading jewellery brand, known for its iconic and wide ranging designs, covering diamond, 18k gold, silver 925, watches and fashion jewellery collections. The company is also Italy’s leading jewellery retailer and is fast becoming one of the world’s hottest brands with a rapidly growing international presence. Significant investment in the brand includes a massive advertising and tv campaign, fronted by internationally renowned top model Isabeli Fontana. The slogan of the campaign is “Dress in Stroili”: the fascinating Isabeli shows how Stroili jewels can dress a woman and cater for every aspect of her character. Stroili jewels are objects of desire that captures the personality of every woman at the different moments in her life.

‘Travel retail is an excellent channel in which to drive sales growth domestically,’ continues Merenda. ‘For example, our listing on Qantas has definitely sparked interest with retail groups in the Australian domestic market, where currently Stroili is not that well known.’

Targeted at the 20-45 age group with a core RRP in travel retail sector of €199 to €250, the appeal from the brand comes from ‘its newness, glamour and fashion product design, sophisticated packaging and pricing appeal’. ‘Stroili’s philosophy is one of a kind in that it enjoys the challenge of combining established principles and values with striking, original shapes, simplicity with the most sophisticated savoire faire, elegance with naturalness, sensuality with feminine tenderness. The idea is that each day a woman can create a completely new look and style which reveals her unique and multi-faceted personality,’ continues Merenda.

For travel retail the company offers a wide range of collections including Chic Embrace, from which a bracelet and ring set are listed on Emirates, Evanescence, Desire, Marrakech, Innocence, New Moon and Silver Lace. Designs include intricate lace filigree and delicate macramé looks, cut out shapes, intertwined rings and wire effects. Pieces include long layering chains, pendants, bangles, chunky cuffs and adjustable rings. Earrings are small and delicate or big and bold statement pieces, while designs combine contemporary modern and traditional styles.

Gold – yellow or rose – and silver plated options include matt and shiny versions with unusual satin and scratched finishes that create a true point of difference. Flowers, hearts, leaves, rings and interwoven spheres dominate designs. ‘Currently we are promoting our fashion collections ( set ) which carry retail price points from €199 to €250, but the point is that we can meet the needs of every passenger profile with our extensive offer.’

Importantly, Stroili is able to adapt existing collections and create special editions for individual customers. ‘If we know that a product essentially works then we can customise it with exceptionally fast time to market. Our creativity is unsurpassed in the jewellery world and we are not phased by volume requirements. What’s important is that we listen to our customers and when we know what they want – we deliver it.’

Alongside its women’s jewellery, Stroili also sees real potential for other ranges as well, including watches and its men’s Jewellery line, where steel dominates with edgy or understated looks as desired. And elsewhere too, there is definitely a growing interest by men for jewellery. ‘There’s just very little out there in travel retail,’ says Merenda.

Stroili’s partner in the travel retail business is LCG-SKYLink.

Nestlé International Travel Retail takes Android Kit Kat into airports worldwide with exclusive promotion for travel retail

Google’s partnership with Nestlé to name its latest Android Mobile Operating System ‘Android Kit Kat’ has inspired the world’s leading confectionery company to create a global high profile activation for travel retail. Supported by a major digital-social media campaign on Google+, Twitter and Facebook, the in-store promotion leverages both the power of the Google and Kit Kat brands to entice and engage shoppers and ultimately drive category sales.

The activation, which kicked off in key airport locations globally from October 1, 2013, is centered on a bespoke Kit Kat Android character with a limited edition GWP plush offered with a minimum spend on the Kit Kat range.  The exclusive Android Kit Kat POS material will highlight the in-store offer at different touch points during the shopper journey; attracting travellers with the slogan: ‘Have a Break. Android Kit Kat’.

This will be enhanced further at selected stores with the appearance of brand ambassadors, plus a live Android Kit Kat character in-store that provides a fun platform for shopper engagement, building interest and excitement.

Alongside this, a strong digital campaign communicated in-store invites plush owners to post photos of their Android around the world using the #AndroidKitKatHere link. This will be supplemented with regular posts on Kit Kat Google+, Twitter and Facebook pages to raise awareness about the promotion and further drive people in-store.  Additionally, the best Android Kit Kat pictures submitted will be featured in a special photo album on the various Kit Kat digital platforms.

Says NITR brand manager Kit Kat Emmanuelle Chavarot:  ‘At NITR we are constantly looking at ways to engage with our customers in travel retail through innovative promotions and activations.  Google’s decision to name its latest Mobile Operating System Android Kit Kat provides us with an excellent opportunity to create a promotion that is specific to travel retail, building on the popularity of Kit Kat - one of our key lines in travel retail– with a fun and engaging in-store activation.

‘This will be further driven by strong social media support. The Kit Kat Facebook pages, for example, have a high numbers of fans – a high proportion of which will be travellers. We’re very excited about this activation in travel retail and believe it will generate massive attention worldwide and really drive category sales in-store.’
